The low profile keyboard market asked for it, and now they are here!
The first, purpose-built from the ground up, silent low profile keyboard switches are finally available!

Lowprokb is proud to announce the new Ambients line of silent choc switches, which will transform your rig into an office-friendly tool, or a late-night warrior's weapon. Designed in partnership with Kailh engineers, the Ambients line of switches will work on any keyboard that is Choc V1 compatible. Yes you read that right, both the keycap interface and the PCB footprint remain unchanged from earlier Choc V1 switches, so your existing keyboard can use these new switches.

Note: Used switches are not refundable. If you are unsure if you will like a particular switch, please purchase a single 10 pack to test prior to buying the full amount. Please see our refund policy for more details.

SUNRISE SWITCH UPDATE: (Jan 2025) - Looks like I will not get engineers time until after Chinese New Year (~end of Feb). I will make it my mission to get this solved for a late spring release. Fingers crossed. (Summer 2024) - There have been delays beyond our control. The first samples sent to us, did not meet our expectations, so further revisions have been ordered. This will likely push the availability date to the fall. We are moving as fast as we can, but the issue is the availability of Kailh engineers... they seem to be quite busy.

The Ambients are based on the original Kailh Choc V1 switch, but are a completely new design, having all their parts redesigned to accommodate the new components required to quieten the typical switch noise. Silicone bumpers have been strategically placed within the new design to buffer both the down and the up stroke of a keypress, all while not creating a mushy feeling while typing.

Ambients Twilight

I'd been wishing for a silent, linear, low-profile switch that fit my ZSA Voyager for a while when I stumbled across someone mentioning the Ambients. I ordered a small amount to test out, and after a work-day was absolutely in love with them and placed another order to fill out the rest of my board. They are pretty light (coming from a 50g switch previously now to the 35g Twilight), but I'm also realizing that this is forcing me to not rest my hands so hard on the keyboard and enforce better posture. I love the feeling when bottoming out the switch where it does have a little bit more of a soft (not quite "mushy," but you can feel the silicone bumpers) feel as others have described, but as someone who previously wanted to get as close as possible to a MacBook Pro keyboard as possible, this is exactly what I'd always wanted and more. Fantastic switches, and would buy a 50g linear Ambient if it ever happened in a heartbeat! Additionally, shipping was extremely fast, with my order going out basically same day (package getting to FedEx the same day that the label was created, where I've had experiences with other shops where it can take multiple days). All around beyond pleased from buying the switches all the way through using them!

Thanks for your review Jacob! Glad you are happy.
BTW, 50g Ambients should be available in a month or so.

Nocturnal Clouds

Wow, what a wonderful typing experience! I'm coming from Kailh White Chocs, which I adore, but my spouse didn't appreciate the noise in our shared office. These new switches fit perfectly into my ZSA Voyager keyboard. I do need to get used to the actuation force; coming from 50g Whites, the 20g Nocturnals are a massive difference in pressure.

Beautiful! a light silent switch?? nuff said.

These are too light for me to use as the home row, but great for the surrounding keys. Happy with the choice to buy them!

These were exactly what I was looking for, a quiet switch that is also the right weight to rest my fingers on the home row. I understand after using them why the feel gets called “mushy”, when you bottom the keys out it is hitting the silicon silencer and that is very different than the sharp feel of a normal linear switch.

these ambients silent chocs are the quietest mechanical switches i have ever experienced, i hope we got some in the 50g+ range in the future =] heavy linears are where its at.
