Are you ready for a new low profile, Kailh Choc-compatible keycap? Then let us introduce you to our latest product, the LDSA profile keycap.

LDSA stands for Low profile DSA, so it stands to reason that this keycap is a uniform-profile spherical keycap. The profile was designed by Lowprokb, inspired by the popular DSA keycap profile. It has a deep comfortable scoop, and soft edges to prevent edge pain, and a textured finger contact region to add comfort and prevent slippage.

LDSA is injected molded out of premium PBT plastic, so they are very resistant to the wear and "shining" caused by many hours of typing.

NOTE: LDSA keycaps are "choc spaced" meaning they do not share the same outer dimensions of a typical Cherry MX keycap. The switch spacing should ideally be 17(h)x18(w) on your keyboard. Choc spaced keycaps will fit on a traditional MX spaced keyboard, but the gaps between the keycaps will not be uniform.

Keycap profile review

I finally got around to putting together my Zaphod and used these keycaps. They work like a dream. The tactile bumps are easy to find on the home keys and do not get in the way of typing. I love everything about the profile. Not sure there is anything I can add that you do not already know about (like the tight-fitting stems or the need to clean up the sprue tabs).

Great work. Looking forward to buying a set or 2 once you have legended keycaps.

Thanks for your great review!

Rating for the keycap profile

These are perfect for choc switches. I love the well for the finger tips. Wish had bought a white set to go with the black. I don't mind that they are tight in the stems. Very stabilizing to the cap actually. Plus I try to pull the switch and cap at the same time anyway. For the price I wont complain for such a comfy profile. I wish there was a notify of back in stock button.

Thanks for your review! Glad you like them!

Great caps, thank you!

Pro-tip: a pair of side-cutters made trimming the stems a two-snip job. Also, laying the cutters against the underside of the cap allowed me to quickly trim each stem to the same height in minutes.

Review:
I love these caps and use them daily for work and gaming.
As someone with larger hands, the dish is comfortable without being intrusive, plus I like the shape and feel over MT3 caps (I know they aren’t choc1 compatible) and the texture over MK Legends.

My only gripe is a matter of personal taste. As they are somewhat thinner, the white versions cannot block out per-key LED’s, so these is a subtle dot of illumination visible through each cap. Some might not mind this and others just run without the RGB, but I can see this being a sticking point for some.

Thanks Dan!

Feels great, unusable as delivered.

Alright let's get the good out of the way first - these keycaps feel great. The dish on the top is perfect, the texture is nice nicely tactile without feeling overly grippy, the homing bumps are easy to find yet unobtrusive, they're just an upgrade over standard caps in nigh every way. If you like the feel of typing on choc but struggle with the spacing as I did or just prefer more dished keycaps, these are nice.

Now onto why despite all that, I can only give them 3 stars - they don't arrive in a useable condition. The description here states "the fit of the stems into the keycaps are a bit tight," but the package comes with a slip of paper that expounds more on this: "If the stems are not reduced, it can make removing them from the switches very difficult, and possibly damage the switches from the force required to remove them. LowproKB...cannot be responsible for damage to swiches [sic] if you choose not to modify the stems."

The reality is that it will rip off the top half of your switch. So you have to make 4-12 passes per keycap with a knife just to use them. I was about 6 passes per switch due to the I-beam shape of the pegs, or over 250 total for a 40% board. That's...a lot. To use a simple product, which I expect now is also not warrantied due to modification.

My problem isn't having to do this. My problem is that it's wholly undisclosed until they arrive. Would I buy them again? Maybe. But I really wish I knew of the extra 1.5hrs it'd take to use them beforehand.

Hi Steve, thanks for your review and your honesty. Yes, the oversized stems are an annoyance, I heartily agree. I can guarantee that the final version of these keycaps will fit perfectly in the switches.
