DDC Choc PBT Blank Keycaps

Regular price $3.50
Unit price  per

In the continued effort to provide low profile keyboard users with nice things, Lowprokb is proud to offer a new keycap profile to satisfy the desires of those wishing for an OEM or Cherry experience while typing.

The DDC profile was designed by Lowprokb to emulate the traditional cylindrical profiles, while being fully adapted for low profile choc V1 spacing and switches.

The key-wells are comfortable and the texture on the PBT plastic is pleasing to the touch. Anyone coming from a traditional cylindrical profile will find themselves right at home with DDC.

DDC can be considered a trial product. If the profile is well received, we intend to expand the offering to include mod, thumb and space keys, as well as legends if demand exists.

DDC is injection molded out of premium PBT plastic, so they are very resistant to the wear and "shining" caused by many hours of typing.

Note: DDC keycaps are "choc spaced" meaning they do not share the same outer dimensions of a typical Cherry MX keycap. The switch spacing should ideally be 17(h)x18(w) on your keyboard. Choc spaced keycaps will fit on a traditional MX spaced keyboard, but the gaps between the keycaps will not be uniform.

Replacing all my choc keycaps with these.

I have 6 choc boards, use choc almost exclusively now. These caps are so good that I’m replacing all my MBK caps. They’re very similar to the Mo-Ergo MCC profile which is also very good, but the texture is just a bit nicer and they cradle the finger just a bit better. Where are the thumb keys? The thumbs from the LDSA are sweet as candy, and work exceptionally well paired with these. More of those would be my last wish.

Nice Weighty Cylinders

First impressions, coming from MBK low profile Choc keycaps: the cylindrical scoop of the DDC caps makes horizontal indexing markedly better. These caps are a bit taller, but only a little bit. The most noticeable thing is their sense of weight; on Kailh Choc White clicky switches they dampen the sharpness of the click just a little, and they feel like they need just a tad more force (which is fine, they are still way gentler than most of the full height switches I use on other boards)--I bet they would pair really well with Pink or Pro Red switches. The surface texture is pleasant, very familiar, similar to Cherry or OEM profile switches in PBT. Someday I hope to try some spherical low profile caps to compare and contrast!

Don’t bother with MBK caps, these caps here change the feeling of your keyboard. I ordered 188 caps to replace all caps of all my low profile keyboards just because they’re that good!
